Tottenham are ready to enter the race for Atalanta midfielder Ederson, with Newcastle United also angling for a move for the Brazilian.
According to Tutto Atalanta, Brazilian midfielder Ederson has considerable interest coming from the Premier League this month. Newcastle United already had him on their list, and now it appears that Tottenham are also angling for a move for the 24-year-old Atalanta star.
Tottenham, Newcastle United in Ederson race
Premier League sides are looking for midfield options ahead of this month, and despite the window entering its latter stages, deals are still possible. These clubs are looking at different options within their league as well as abroad, where the prices might be a bit on the lower side.
Atalanta midfielder Ederson has emerged as a player of interest for several sides, including Manchester United, who are keen. One might point towards the Red Devils and their relationship with the Italian side after the business done for Rasmus Hojlund, but there are other teams in the mix, too.
Newcastle United are also interested, with a report back in November claiming Atalanta knocked back an approach from the Magpies for the 24-year-old Brazilian enforcer. The club are currently in a financial dilemma, as FFP concerns are seemingly preventing them from making any extensive forays in the transfer market.
As Newcastle keep pondering over their finances, Tottenham have also entered the chase, with Ange Postecoglou looking for a new midfielder. Ederson’s style and output make him an ideal option for the Spurs to consider, and they might end up approaching the January window.
Tottenham keen on a new midfielder
Tottenham have plenty of decisions on their hand before the window shuts, and their main agenda would appear to be a new midfielder. Spurs have already signed Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner earlier this month, but there is a chance that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg might depart due to his unhappiness and lack of regular game time.
Spurs have not given up hope on Conor Gallagher as talks continue with Chelsea. Hence, if the England international becomes available, they will undoubtedly pursue a deal for him, meaning someone like Ederson appears like an alternative of sorts.
Yet, the club would want to act quickly in the market and make their move for the 24-year-old Brazilian enforcer, especially if they cannot sign Gallagher. Spurs, under Postecoglou, have made swift decisions since the summer and are expected to do so again this month.
