Ronald Araujo does not want to leave Barcelona and is eager to forge a long career in Catalonia amid heavy interest from elsewhere.

A report on 90min has downplayed the prospect of Ronald Araujo leaving Barcelona in the coming period, citing the defender’s happiness at the club. A host of top clubs are keen on the 24-year-old Barcelona mainstay, including Manchester United, and they could suffer disappointment in the pursuit of the Uruguayan.

Ronald Araujo keen to stay at Barcelona

Over the last 18 to 24 months, Barcelona’s financial issues have become a significant talking point, which has led to speculation they might sell some of their top players to raise funds. Among their top personnel, Ronald Araujo stands out as a prized asset, with suggestions that the Catalans might consider an approach.

Some reports went as far as claiming the 24-year-old Barcelona mainstay might lean towards a Premier League switch, although the scenario is entirely different. In truth, the Uruguayan has no intention of leaving the club, with Xavi Hernandez and Barcelona are pleased with his progress.

Considering Araujo has established himself as one of the best defenders in the world, naturally, there are a lot of top-notch clubs eager to take advantage of Barcelona’s situation. However, the Catalans are reportedly even planning an extension on his current deal that originally expires in 2026.

Some top clubs keen on Araujo but could suffer a blow in pursuit of the 24-year-old Barcelona mainstay, as he is likely to stay with the club. Things could certainly change in the future, even in the following summer window. But for now, the club and the player will maintain their stance.

Manchester United held an interest alongside Bayern Munich and Manchester City

Should Ronald Araujo change his stance and declare he wants to leave Barcelona, the Uruguayan defender will have no shortage of options. Bayern Munich are reportedly prepared to pay big and remain one of the biggest admirers of the 24-year-old.

Manchester United have made enquiries about Araujo recently. But the defender’s stance mean they will suffer a blow in the pursuit. There are suggestions that Erik ten Hag could pursue Matthijs de Ligt as an option, as the Dutchman could switch his attention towards his former star at Ajax.

Manchester City are also interested in Araujo and would likely lead the race if the defender decided to leave. However, now all those teams chasing the 24-year-old may sit tight patiently, waiting for the right opportunity and keeping close tabs on Barcelona’s situation as they finish the season.
