Liverpool are linked with a move for 18-year-old winger from Sweden Momodou Sonko who plays for first division side BK Hacken.

According to Fotboll Direkt, the FK Hacken winger has emerged as a target for Liverpool, with the 18-year-old winger attracting the attention of Jurgen Klopp. The report explains that Swedish talent could fit perfectly in the Reds’ system and become an essential player for their future.

Who is Momodou Sonko?

Momodou Sonko is a Swedish-born left-winger who plays for FK Hacken in their first division. He also holds Gambian citizenship, which could allow him to represent the African nation in the future, but for now it appears he could represent Sweden in the future.

Sonko has featured for Sweden’s U17 and U18 sides on a decent level and might have set sights on making it to the U-21 team soon. The winger has been in good form for Hacken this season, with four goals and an assist in 13 appearances across all competitions.

He also has experience playing in European competitions, having featured in Champions League qualifying and then playing all eight games of Europa League qualifications and group stages. Hence, he has shown a willingness to perform at the highest levels.

Sonko already has interest from Liverpool and Barcelona, with the current report now pointing firmly in the direction of the Premier League giants as a potential suitor, possibly even in this month.

Liverpool to move for Momodou Sonko?

The report heavily links Liverpool as the party firmly interested in signing the 18-year-old winger this month. Jurgen Klopp is in the market to strengthen his first team, but as always, he could keep a watchful eye on emerging talents to plan for the future.

As per the report, Sonko’s profile of an inside-winger perfectly suits Liverpool’s style, and tipped him to become the long-term heir for Luis Diaz. For now, the 18-year-old winger is nowhere close to breaking into this Liverpool first-team setup and may have to bide his time.

Whether Liverpool makes their interest apparent remains the question, but there are chances they invest in the Swedish talent now. Sonko’s currently valued at €4 million by Transfermarkt, as Hacken might look for slightly more considering his impact on their side at a very young age.
