Kalvin Phillips and his Manchester City Struggles
Kalvin Phillips has struggled for regular game time at the Premier League club since joining Manchester City for £45 million from Leeds United. He needs to leave the treble winners to play regularly, and a loan move to Tottenham would be ideal for him as well.
Tottenham will have to compete with Newcastle United for his signature. The Magpies are keen on signing the Englishman as well. Summer signing Sandro Tonali is suspended for his involvement in an illegal betting scandal, and they need a quality defensive midfielder to replace him.

Phillips would prove to be a quality acquisition, and he could improve Tottenham in the middle of the park.
The 28-year-old is likely to get more opportunities to play at the North London club compared to Manchester City, and it could help him hold down a starting spot in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the upcoming Euro 2024.
Signing the player on loan would be an inexpensive addition, and it would also be a no risk signing. If he manages to impress with Tottenham in the coming months, the North London club could look to sign him at the end of the season permanently.
Phillips has proven his quality in the Premier League with Leeds United in the past, and he would be the ideal acquisition for Tottenham. He was well versed with Marcelo Bielsa’s high intensity attacking system at Leeds. So, he should be able to fit into Ange Postecoglou’s style of play as well.
Kalvin Phillips is at the peak of his career, and he knows the Premier League well. He could make an immediate impact at the North London club and transform them in the middle of the park.
Tottenham will be desperate for Champions League qualification this season, and they have improved their squad with the additions of Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin. Signing Phillips would wrap up a very impressive window for them this month.
