Arsenal have reportedly made a £22 million offer to sign Getafe forward Borja Mayoral, who have asked the Gunners to pay more.

According to The Sun, Arsenal have made a £22 million offer to sign Borja Bayoral, but Getafe are holding out for more. The Spanish side wants a higher price for their top scorer as the Gunners step up their effort to sign a forward.

Arsenal keen on Borja Bayoral?

Arsenal are in the market for a striker, and now Mikel Arteta has switched his attention towards a cheaper alternative over some of his expensive targets. The Gunners boss seeks a new striker to spearhead his attack, which has lacked in goals this season.

Ivan Toney appeared as their top target, but Brentford’s £100 million asking price has already made Arsenal re-consider their options. Now, the pursuit of Borja Mayoral shows Arteta wants a solution, even if it’s a cheaper one.

As a matter of fact, there are other clubs interested in the striker, with Crystal Palace and Brentford being one of those that are keen. The Bees considered him a replacement should Toney leave. However, the Gunners have made a £22 million offer for the Spanish forward, but Getafe are likely to turn it down.

Getafe are reportedly holding out for more for the £39 million-rated Spaniard, although if the Gunners are keen, then they might return with an improved offer. Only time will tell whether Arsenal will sign Mayoral, although there are many other options on their list.

Arsenal’s striker plans for January.

The Gunners are in the race for a top draw forward, but financial restrictions are likely to hamper their plans for signing one. There are more names on their list, with Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak the latest to be named.

The Gunners can solve their FFP-related troubles by selling some of their current first-team stars, with the likes of Eddie Nketiah being one of those. Arsenal are prepared to offload him if they can find a replacement, but their asking price has raised a few eyebrows.

In all, fans are demanding Arteta sign a top draw forward to ease the pressure on the front line and bring a new lease of life. Arteta has many challenges in bringing one, but the interest in Borja Mayoral could have an interesting twist to it.
