Eric Dier is reportedly joining Bayern Munich, with the Bundesliga champions sealing an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a report by Sky Sports, Eric Dier will end his Tottenham Hotspur nightmare soon. The North London giants have agreed to sell the 29-year-old utility man to Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga champions are shelling out a meagre €4 million to secure his services. He will undergo his medical shortly.

The Eric Dier Story at Tottenham

Eric Dier has enjoyed a solid spell with Tottenham Hotspur since arriving from Sporting CP in July 2014. The English international started as a right-back but has also excelled as a centre-back and a holding midfielder for the North London club. He has thus proven himself as a utility man for Tottenham.

But the 29-year-old has seen his stock falling in the last 12 months, particularly after Ange Postecoglou arrived at the North London club. Dier has managed only 199 minutes of game time across four appearances thus far this season. In addition, with the player entering the final six months of his contract, Tottenham wanted to offload him in the January transfer window.

Reports as back as October suggested Tottenham wanted to permanently sell Eric Dier in the January transfer window after failing to part ways with him in the summer. But the Englishman had no shortage of suitors, with clubs in Italy and Portugal showing interest in him. But things changed after Bayern Munich joined the race to sign him.

Bundesliga calling

Thomas Tuchel has been keen on adding a centre-back to his squad in the ongoing transfer window. The Bayern Munich manager does not fancy Matthijs de Ligt, while Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae have blown hot and cold. In addition, Kim is on AFC Asian Cup duty with South Korea.

So, it behoves Bayern Munich to invest in a centre-back this month. And Tuchel wanted a versatile defender who can also play as a right-back. Eric Dier thus emerged as a viable target for the Bundesliga champions. And they have now sealed the agreement for the Tottenham utility man, with the North London club receiving €4 million from his sale.

Florian Plettenberg has revealed that the 29-year-old will sign a contract running until either June 2025 or 2026. He will undergo his medical imminently before completing the move to Bayern Munich, with Tuchel already revealing the acquisition. So, a new adventure in the Bundesliga beckons.
