Crystal Palace will reportedly look to raid fellow Premier League club West Ham United for veteran striker Danny Ings.
According to Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas, Danny Ings is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are in the market for a striker in the ongoing transfer window. And they have set their sights on West Ham United for their next target, with the veteran English target emerging on their radar.
Danny Ings at West Ham United: The Story So Far
Danny Ings has struggled to hit the heights of his stint with Southampton since joining West Ham United in January 2023. The 31-year-old has blown hot and cold in the last few seasons, failing to make his mark for Aston Villa, with things going from bad to worse at the London Stadium.
The veteran English striker has 118 goals in his senior career in 377 appearances thus far. But his best spell came with Southampton, scoring a goal every other game. However, Ings’s stock has plummeted this season, as he has not even managed 500 minutes of game time, even though Michail Antonio has missed most of 2023/24.
With Danny Ings not featuring in David Moyes’s long-term plans, a move away from the East London club might be on the cards. And the experienced Englishman has no shortage of suitors, with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace keen on signing him in the January transfer window. He is also the subject of interest from his former club, Southampton.
A Move Across London on the Cards?
Recent reports have pointed to Crystal Palace’s keenness to sign a striker in the January transfer window. Attackers like Borja Mayoral and Eddie Nketiah have thus emerged on their radar. The eagerness to bolster the offensive unit is understandable.
Neither Jean-Philippe Mateta nor Odsonne Edouard has been consistent for Crystal Palace in the last few seasons. So, it makes sense for the Eagles to scour the market for a solution for their issues. Danny Ings, a veteran of the Premier League, has thus emerged as a viable target for Crystal Palace.
Wolverhampton Wanderers, who have lost Sasa Kalajdzic this month, are also an attractive destination. But Ings does not want to rejoin Southampton in the January transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see if the 31-year-old remains in London by joining Crystal Palace or if he moves to the Midlands instead.
