Manchester City are reportedly keen on signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro, with Pep Guardiola driving the move.

According to Fichajes, Pep Guardiola wants Manchester City to sign Pedro Porro this year. The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the country, and his performances have attracted the attention of the Premier League champions.

Pedro Porro on the Rise

Pedro Porro has been outstanding for Tottenham this season, scoring once and picking up seven assists across all competitions. It will be interesting to see whether Spurs entertain offers for a key player midway through the season.

Tottenham will not want to sell a player of his quality any time soon, and Manchester City might have to pay well over the odds to stand any chance of signing him. Spurs will be hoping to compete for UEFA Champions League qualification this season, and they need to hold on to their best players to finish high up the table.

The North Londoners cannot afford to sell the 24-year-old defender, who has been a key player for them. The former Sporting CP defender has adapted to the Premier League well, and he has established himself as an indispensable asset for the North London club.

Manchester City Calling?

While the opportunity to join Manchester City can be quite tempting for most players, it is unlikely that the 24-year-old Tottenham mainstay will push for a move. The Premier league champions might have to move on to other targets if they want to bring in a quality full back.

Manchester City currently have Kyle Walker as the first-choice right-back at the club. But the England international will lead to be replaced soon. In addition, Joao Cancelo faces an uncertain future at the Etihad. They need to bring in a defender who will contribute equally at both ends of the pitch, and Pedro Porro has certainly proven his pedigree in the Premier League with Tottenham this season.

It will be interesting to see if Manchester City decide to test Tottenham’s resolve with an offer at the end of the season. A move in January seems highly unlikely, and Spurs will not want to jeopardise their chances of securing top four qualification.
