Conor Gallagher set for Chelsea stay

Chelsea’s 23-year-old midfield sensation Conor Gallagher is expected to continue at the club beyond January despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a report by Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on acquiring the services of Conor Gallagher as they look to bolster their squad in the ongoing transfer window. Despite interest in his services from Spurs, he is expected to stay at Chelsea at least until the end of the season.

Conor Gallagher and his Situation

Conor Gallagher has been the talk of the town since the summer. The Blues were ready to part ways with him during the summer transfer window. But unfortunately, they could not strike a deal with any interested party.

The player was keen on staying at the club, and he has since managed to work his way into the plans of Mauricio Pochettino. The 23-year-old midfielder has featured in a total of 24 matches in the ongoing season and has racked up 1,900 minutes. He has even contributed towards four goals and has worn the captain’s armband on multiple occasions.

What Does the January Transfer Window have in store for Gallagher?

Despite turning things around at Chelsea, he is still linked with a move away from the club. Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs that remain interested in the 23-year-old, and they would love to acquire his services in the ongoing transfer window. Meanwhile, Chelsea have set a £60 million price tag.

However, Tottenham might not be able to land him in January despite his contract situation. Gallagher’s current contract with Blues runs out in the summer of 2025. Despite him being a regular under Pochettino, Chelsea are yet to offer him a new deal. As a result, his future remains uncertain.

But a transfer in January is still not on the cards as the England international is valued at £60 million. While the Blues might consider an offer of around £50 million, Tottenham are unlikely to fork out that kind of a price midway into the season despite their firm admiration for the 23-year-old.

Meanwhile, even the player wants to continue at Chelsea as he pushes for a starting place in England’s team for the European Championship in the summer. A move elsewhere at this stage could be tricky, and he does not want to ruin his chances of being a starter at the continental tournament.
