According to Anfield Watch, Mohamed Salah could open his doors towards signing a new deal with Liverpool to end speculation surrounding his future. There are rumours of a new Saudi Pro League club entering the chase for the 31-year-old, with the Merseysiders likely to lean towards keeping the Egyptian.

Mohamed Salah to sign a new contract?

Liverpool have already experienced the power of Saudi clubs knocking on their door for some critical stars after they sold Jordan Henderson and Fabinho in the summer. Firmino also left for the Middle Eastern League as a free agent, but the big surprise came at the end of the summer window when Al-Ittihad came in with an offer for Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool swiftly rejected a proposal, while Al-Ittihad reportedly managed to agree on personal terms with the Egyptian. Now, as per the report, Salah remains open to signing a new deal at Anfield, which could kill Saudi speculation once and for all.

There was an expectation that Salah would complete a Saudi move in the summer, but if he’s ready to sign a new contract, then things could change dramatically for the Saudi Pro League. Other rumours insisted Liverpool would sell Salah for £200 million, which might help Jurgen Klopp with his squad-building exercises.

There are already many names lined up as Salah’s replacement. Still, now with the story about a potential contract extension, it shows Liverpool are leaning towards keeping the Egyptian rather than selling him. As per another report, the 31-year-old reportedly informed the club of his intention to continue at Anfield.

Is a new Saudi club chasing Salah?

As per Rudy Galetti, a new Saudi Pro League club has begun pursuing Salah in the last few days. As per a story earlier in December, Al-Hilal held an interest in the Egyptian and were ready to rival Al-Ittihad for his signature.

Whether the new club are indeed Al-Hilal remains the question, but there’s a likelihood that it will be one of the four sides owned by the PIF. Al-Ittihad had reportedly agreed on personal terms with the winger, which might have been similar to what Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar are getting paid.

For now, Liverpool fans will hope the news about an extension are accurate after another sensational season with the club. Salah has had a hand in 25 goals this season, which have helped the Merseysiders stay on top of the Premier League table.
