Liverpool are reportedly eyeing SSC Napoli ace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as a potential Mohamed Salah replacement

Mohamed Salah continues to play a key role in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool rebuild. So, the Reds will have a huge task on their hands to replace the Egyptian when he eventually moves on.

At 31, Salah is not getting any younger and has already won it all at Anfield. The last remaining member of the famed attacking trio that also included Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, Salah continues to be linked with a move to the Saudi Premier League in 2024.

The winger enters the final year of his contract on Merseyside next summer, and it is in the Reds’ best interests to sell him for a fee rather than allow him to run down his deal. Despite his age, Salah commands a huge fee as the Muslim world’s finest athlete and several Saudi clubs would be interested in paying over the odds to add him to their roster.

This is good news for Jurgen Klopp and co. as they will need all the help they can get to prepare for life after the Egyptian. It is not easy to find a player who can consistently produce the goal and assists that Salah maintained while also seamlessly integrating themselves into the club’s ethos.

However, change is inevitable and according to Fichajes, the decision-makers at Anfield appear to be showing interest in three young talents, who if they’d develop as expected can future-proof the role for years to come. The name with the biggest profile is Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, a player who set Serie A on fire in 2022/23.

The young Georgian played a key role in SSC Napoli’s first Scudetto since the Diego Maradona era. As a result, he has carved a niche for himself in top-level European football. While primarily a left-winger, the 22-year-old can play anywhere along the frontline and can integrate himself easily into the Reds’ mobile frontline.

Possessing pace, power and the ability to link up well with his teammates, Kvaratskhelia can take his game to a higher level under Klopp. Napoli have fallen off since winning Serie A while Liveprool’s rebuild is coming along nicely. The Georgian could become a key cog in the new-look Reds’ outfit should he opt to move to Merseyside.

Landing Kvaratskhelia would be a coup for Liverpool and fast-track their development in a post-Salah environment. It will certainly be something that the Reds’ faithful can get behind were it to happen.
