Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been linked with a move away from the Merseyside club in recent months.

Saudi Arabian clubs wanted to sign Mohamed Salah in the summer transfer window. But Liverpool managed to hold on to him. A report from Football Transfers has claimed that the Egyptian attacker is now inching closer to signing a new contract with the Premier League club.

Mohamed Salah: A Liverpool Legend

Salah has been exceptional for Liverpool since joining them in 2017 for a fee of around €42 million. The 31-year-old Egyptian international has helped them win every single trophy at club level, and he is undoubtedly the best player at the club.

Liverpool will want to hold on to him for as long as possible, and it remains to be seen whether the two parties can agree soon. Salah’s contract with Liverpool ends in the summer of 2025, and there have been rumours that the English club could look to sell him at the end of this season if he does not renew his deal.

Naturally, Liverpool will not want to lose him as a free agent in 2025. Therefore, they will need to agree on an extension with the player soon. Salah has been in top form this season and he will be hoping to guide Liverpool to the Premier League title. He has helped them climb to the top of the table, and it remains to be seen whether the Reds can stay there until the end of the season.

Replacing the Egyptian international would be a massive challenge for Liverpool. Despite spending millions on other attackers, they have not been able to score goals consistently, and Salah has had to carry the goalscoring burden at Anfield this season. He is an indispensable asset for the club, and Liverpool must do everything in their power to keep him for as long as possible.

Set to Stay at Anfield?

The fact that the player is leaning towards an extension will come as a major boost for Liverpool and their fans. They will certainly hope that the talismanic attacker commits his long-term future to the club.

Despite being 31, the Egyptian is at the peak of his powers, and he has an incredible fitness record. He will be able to compete at the highest level for a few more seasons, and tying him down to a new deal could prove to be a masterstroke.
