Newcastle United are reportedly looking to sign 15-year-old Irish midfield sensation Rory Finneran from Blackburn Rovers.

According to a report by Football Insider, Rory Finneran is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The 15-year-old midfield sensation is gaining popularity in the market due to his exploits in age-group football. And the Magpies are preparing a formal bid to sign the Blackburn Rovers wonderkid.

Blackburn Rovers: Guiding Highly-Rated Youngsters to Stardom

Blackburn Rovers have made a name for themselves by facilitating the growth of many well-known players in the last few years. David Raya and Ashley Phillips, currently at two Premier League bigwigs, spent some of their formative years at the EFL Championship club.

The Riversiders have also harboured other highly-rated players, including the in-demand Adam Wharton. Rory Finneran has now risen to prominence during his stint with Blackburn Rovers. The 15-year-old Irish midfield sensation is already representing his country at the under-17 level.

Meanwhile, Finneran is a regular for Blackburn’s under-18 team and has also started a Premier League 2 game. The Riversiders have also called him up for first-team training, and he was on the bench for the match against Bristol City last month. The youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of Newcastle United.

Newcastle United Keen on Rory Finneran

The Magpies have focused on a youth-driven project since the PIF takeover over two years ago. Many highly-rated prospects, including Samuel Iling-Junior, remain on Newcastle United’s radar. Meanwhile, Eddie Howe has not shied away from handing first-team minutes to youngsters, with Lewis Miley recently rising to prominence.

So, it is hardly surprising that a highly-rated midfielder like Rory Finneran has emerged as a target for Newcastle United. The report by Football Insider has claimed that the Magpies are ready to formalise their interest in the 15-year-old midfield sensation. And the Tyneside outfit will soon present a bid to sign the youngster.

It is unclear if Blackburn Rovers will be ready to part ways with Finneran anytime soon, considering how highly they rate him. But the opportunity to rise to the first-team level at a Premier League club in a few years might be too alluring to turn down.
