Girona is pondering an approach for 24-year-old Tottenham mainstay Pedro Porro with the intent of strengthening their squad.

According to Tottenham News, Girona are keen on Pedro Porro and eager to find out if a move in January could materialise. Spurs are likely to knock back all approaches for the 24-year-old, who is one of their critical stars.

Could Girona sign Pedro Porro?

Tottenham fans will brush aside these links, considering how important Pedro Porro is for their team. The Spaniard only joined from Sporting CP on an initial loan deal last January before Tottenham took up the option to make the move permanent in the summer.

As per the report, Spurs have paid around £39 million with the possibility of additional loan fees for the Spaniard. Porro has had a solid start to the season, notching seven assists so far. His presence is seen as vital under Ange Postecoglou, as the 24-year-old star is one of the essential stars of the Australian’s backline.

Girona have come up with an interest in signing Porro during the January window. The Spanish side are flying in La Liga and finished in second place only on goal difference ahead of the winter break. They are keen on strengthening their squad for the challenges ahead, especially with a challenge for the title.

While they could tempt Porro over a return to Spain and to his former side, the 24-year-old Tottenham mainstay will unlikely leave north London. Moreover, Spurs will wave away any approaches from Girona or anyone else for the right-back.

What are Tottenham planning in this January window?

Tottenham are planning on signing a few players in the January window, as many expect them to remain highly active in pursuit of various targets. Spurs have already made headway in the chase for a defender, having lodged a bid and agreed on personal terms for Radu Dragusin.

They are also keen on adding a new winger, if possible, as well as an attacking midfielder if someone becomes available. For now, they will continue to focus on landing Dragusin in the coming days and then shift their attention towards attacking reinforcements.
