Bundesliga title hopefuls RB Leipzig will reportedly look to poach Barcelona for 19-year-old attacking prospect Angel Alarcon next year.
According to a report by Spanish outlet MARCA, Angel Alarcon is the subject of interest from RB Leipzig. The Bundesliga title hopefuls are keen on bolstering their attack next year. They have thus identified the 19-year-old Barcelona attacking prospect as a candidate to reinforce the offensive unit.
Who is Angel Alarcon?
Angel Alarcon has come leaps and bounds since joining Barcelona from local rivals Espanyol in July 2018. The Spanish youth international, a native of Castelldefels, has risen through the ranks at the Catalan club, establishing a foothold in the reserve team. Meanwhile, he has turned out seven times for Spain’s under-19 team.
The 19-year-old has already made his first-team debut for Barcelona, managing 31 minutes of game time across five appearances. But fitness issues have plagued Alarcon this season, considerably restricting his game time. So, he has turned out only seven times for Barcelona’s reserve and youth teams this term.
However, the youngster’s stock remains high, with many high-profile clubs setting their sights on him in the last few years. Heading into 2024, RB Leipzig will look to prise the attacking prospect away from Barcelona, with Marco Rose keen on adding to his squad’s offensive resources.
A Move to Bundesliga on the Cards?
Marco Rose does not necessarily rely on wingers in his system, usually opting for a 4-2-2-2 formation. So, targeting a player who thrives in central areas might be sensible. However, Angel Alarcon is a versatile attacker who can reprise various roles in the final third, including those through the central positions.
