Premier League clubs are increasingly keen on signing Miguel Gutierrez from Girona in the summer, in which case Real Madrid could profit.
According to Fichajes, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Chelsea are all in the race to sign Girona left-back Miguel Gutierrez. The 22-year-old Spaniard has made a sensational impression with his displays in La Liga, where Real Madrid could also exercise their right to re-sign the defender.
Premier League interest in Gutierrez
Miguel Gutierrez can count himself as one of the players multiple Premier League sides are looking at ahead of the next window. The 22-year-old Spaniard has suitors like Chelsea and Tottenham, while Arsenal were always in the mix following his performances this season.
Both Chelsea and Tottenham are ready to rival the Gunners, while the report also names Manchester City as a suitor. The treble winners are likely to push ahead with their chase of Valentin Barco, the River Plate left-back and may not focus too much on Gutierrez.
Arsenal, however, were reportedly willing to shell out a large sum on Gutierrez as per a recent report. The Gunners do have a shortage in that position, as Mikel Arteta might look for an option other than Oleksandr Zinchenko in the future.
Hence, the Gunners could come into the mix in a big way, although they might not spend big in January on a left-back, considering they have other pressing needs. Moreover, Girona, having found themselves in a promising position in La Liga, will not want to lose an important player as the 22-year-old.
Real Madrid could profit from Gutierrez’s sale
Real Madrid held 50% of Gutierrez’s rights and inserted the options when they sold him to Girona for a fee of €4 million. The 22-year-old Spaniard’s market value has since more than tripled, which could see the La Liga leaders profit one way or another.
Real Madrid have not ruled out a move for Gutierrez, and they might jump the gun and sign him on the best terms possible. Alternatively, they could profit from any sale that Girona makes, as they will receive 50% of that fee.
For instance, if Arsenal, Chelsea or Tottenham agree to pay €30 million, then half of that fee will go to Real Madrid. They can also then offer Girona a €15 million offer, which then must be accepted. Wherever he goes next, Girona will undoubtedly hope he remains with them for the remainder of the campaign.
