Chelsea are keen on Ousmane Diomande and willing to fork out €50 million for the Sporting CP star ahead of the January window.

According to Fichajes, Chelsea are keen to sign Ousmane Diomande in January and could make an approach to accelerate the move. The Blues are reportedly willing to pay €50 million for the 20-year-old defender, who also has other top suitors chasing his signature.

Ousmane Diomande a target for Chelsea

Chelsea are expected to enter the January market with some notable targets on their shortlist. There are chances of the Blues embarking on another spending spree to shore up their squad. Once again, there are chances of the London giants bringing in a few defenders, and they already have a target in sight.

Sporting CP’s Ousmane Diomande remains a crucial target for Chelsea, as a few spaces could emerge in their defence to accommodate the Ivorian. The 20-year-old defender has impressed since joining the Portuguese side last January and remains in line to make a big move within one year.

Chelsea are reportedly willing to make a €50 million offer to tempt Sporting into a sale. The Portuguese side are apparently eager to find a fee closer to his €80 million release clause, which could prove the stumbling block.

Chelsea may look to raise funds through player sales, with Pochettino keen on sanctioning exits for several players, including at least two defenders. Hence, they have the space and probably the money to broker a deal for the 20-year-old defender in January but face competition from rivals.

Signing Diomande will be challenging for Chelsea.

Chelsea are very much aware of the growing interest in Diomande ahead of January. Arsenal and Real Madrid are among those keen, with the latter entering the chase following David Alaba’s injury.

Mikel Arteta wants Diomande to join his side, as the Gunners are keen on signing a top-draw defender next month. These are teams with the financial capabilities to put up a fight to sign a good player, and Chelsea could face some troubles along the way.

Sporting are only keen on a summer sale, which could see them block any efforts for clubs like Chelsea to sign Diomande. If the Blues still wish to push on, the Portuguese side will demand they trigger his €80 million release clause in full.
