Napoli are eager to test Arsenal’s resolve on Jakub Kiwior and make a move for the Polish defender in January.

According to Fichajes, Napoli have Jakub Kiwior on their January shortlist as they could find a way to get the Arsenal defender. The Gunners may have a strong stance on the Polish defender, but things could change if they can find solutions that allow them to sell the €25 million defender.

Could Arsenal sell Jakub Kiwior?

Jakub Kiwior arrived last January in a €25 million deal when Mikel Arteta was eager to bring in a left-sided defender cover for Gabriel Magalhaes. Since pre-season, the Spanish manager has used the Polish centre-back in an auxiliary left-back role, something he has done on the right side where Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu have flourished.

However, Arteta still does not rate Kiwor up to his standards and may have already started thinking about alternatives to the Polish star. A recent story stated the Gunners are plotting a loan-to-buy offer for Goncalo Inacio.

Another one linked them with a move for German centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck, which shows Arteta might have started thinking about replacing Kiwior in his squad. Those two stars can play as a left-back in a move defensive sense while also providing able covering for Gabriel Magalhaes centrally.

Hence, we might assume Kiwior’s time at Arsenal could come to a premature end in January. The Gunners might charge a premium to sell him, and there is considerable interest in the €25 million defender.

Napoli emerge in the Kiwior race

Napoli are reportedly considering a move for Kiwior ahead of January as the Italian champions eye key signs to shore up their squad. The Polish defender has ample experience in the league and could even potentially sign in as a starter of sorts for many of the interested parties.

The Serie A giants are not alone in the chase, as AC Milan have already seen an approach rebuffed by Arsenal. The Rossoneri might return and compete with Napoli for the defender, which will only benefit the Gunners in driving up the price for the €25 million defender.

Napoli could offer him a good position in the squad, as they have yet to find the right solution since the departure of Kim Min-jae. Hence, if Arsenal push ahead with their idea of signing a new left-sided centre-back in January, the Polish defender might pack his bags and return to Italy. However, there are a few English clubs also likely to enter the chase.
