AC Milan are pushing to sign Serhou Guirassy in January but faces intense competition from Premier League and other European clubs.
According to Calcio Mercato, AC Milan are very much in contention for Serhou Guirassy but faces intense competition from elsewhere. The Rossoneri are keen to sign the Stuttgart striker with 19 goals this season as they continue their push to agree on salary terms.
The Serhou Guirassy race could turn into an all-out transfer battle as more clubs come into the mix for the Stuttgart hitman. Since signing for the German side on a permanent basis for a fee of £7.5 million, the striker has gone on to take the Bundesliga by storm, scoring 17 times in the league and twice in the cup.
His prolific form has undoubtedly attracted some of the biggest names from the Premier League and Europe, with AC Milan one of the clubs keen on signing him. The Rossoneri have eyed a new frontman in January as Stefano Pioli wants to improve their attacking options.
They are in contact with Guirassy’s agents to find an agreement on salary, with any move hinging on how much they can offer compared to the competition. Milan certainly have their limits when offering contracts, but there’s a feeling they might lose out to one of the Premier League sides including Manchester United and Newcastle United.
Manchester United and Tottenham were told to make lucrative offers to boost their chances of signing the 19-goal star. For this reason, West Ham may have already pulled out of the race, as David Moyes now targets other stars. However, Newcastle United could see if they can broker a deal, as they are in a good position to add the striker and offer him a good deal in return.
Guirassy has a £15 million release clause in his contract and has since rejected Stuttgart’s efforts to renew his deal, which involved the removal of the clause. The striker has sensed an opportunity to sign for a big team and further his career.
At 27, such an opportunity may not come along in the future, with his entourage eager to make the best of the situation. Stuttgard have no choice but to accept a departure if any of the interested clubs trigger his release clause.
Milan, have Jonathan David on their list, but his potential asking price of over £40 million may force them to up their offer for Guirassy on personal terms. For now, the race for the Stuttgart man remains an open one, with many other clubs likely to come into the mix, as a departure seems imminent.
