Ivan Toney prioritising Arsenal move amid Chelsea, Real Madrid links

Ivan Toney has been linked with a move away from Brentford in January, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Real Madrid.

A report from TEAMtalk has claimed that Ivan Toney is prioritising a move to Arsenal despite links with Chelsea and Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Brentford want at least £70 million to part ways with the Englishman.

Arsenal Linked With Ivan Toney

Arsenal need to bring in a prolific goalscorer who can complement Gabriel Jesus in the attack. The Brazilian is more of a creative forward, and he has not been able to score goals consistently. Toney, on the other hand, is a reliable finisher and could lead the line for Arsenal. He will add physicality and hold-up play to the attack along with his sharpness in front of the goal.

The 27-year-old is currently suspended for breaching gambling regulations. But he will return to action midway through January. He is expected to join a big club during the second half of the campaign, and the opportunity to join Arsenal can be hard to turn down for any player.

Chelsea and Real Madrid Also Keen

The report claims that the player prefers to join the North London club despite links with Chelsea and Real Madrid. Chelsea need to sign a top-class striker. They signed Nicolas Jackson during the summer transfer window, but the former Villarreal man has been quite mediocre.

The Blues need a proven finisher to lead the line for them, and Toney would certainly be an upgrade on the former Villarreal star. As far as Real Madrid are concerned, they parted ways with Karim Benzema last summer, and they are missing a quality number nine. Although they are expected to aim higher, that 27-year-old could prove to be a solid addition in the short term.

The opportunity to play for Real Madrid can be quite tempting for most players. But it seems that Toney is looking to continue in the Premier League, and a move to Spain does not appeal to him as much.

The 27-year-old striker will be hoping to take the next step in his career and join a club capable of winning major trophies. He has proven himself to be a reliable striker in the Premier League over the last couple of seasons and is ready to move on to greener pastures now.

Arsenal could provide him with the platform to compete for major trophies, and he would get to test himself in the UEFA Champions League as well. Arsenal will want to win the league title this season and they are currently on top of the league table. A quality signing like Toney could galvanize them during the second half of the campaign and help them beat their rivals to the league title.
