Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea are keen on acquiring the services of 28-year-old Fulham defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha.
According to a report by Fichajes, Chelsea are keen on reinforcing their team in the upcoming transfer window. Despite having spent over €1 billion on player transfer over the past few windows results on the pitch haven’t improved. The Blues’ struggle continues and their boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen on reinforcing the team by signing Joao Palhinha.
Palhinha’s future has been the talk of the town since the summer. The 28-year-old was very close to joining Bayern Munich in the summer. The German giants were ready to announce his signing but the deal collapsed on deadline day as Fulham couldn’t secure a replacement in time.
The Cottagers then managed to extend his stay at the club as he agreed to pen down a new deal. But, his future is still up in the air, and multiple clubs are ready to prise him away from Fulham. Chelsea are one of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks.
The Blues have been struggling for the past two years, they haven’t been able to return to their best despite spending a fortune on new players. Mauricio Pochettino who took charge in the summer is trying to turn things around but he feels they need to make signings in the winter to return to their competitive best.
Pochettino wants to reinforce multiple areas of the pitch but his major focus is on the midfield and the attack. He wants to sign players who are better suited to his style of play and is ready to offload quite a few players to make room for new signings.
The Argentine boss wants to bring Palhinha to Stamford Bridge. He feels the Portuguese international could do wonders for them and he is well accustomed to the Premier League and he could get going from the start. The London club are willing to spend €60 million to acquire his services. The amount that the Blues are willing to pay will surely make Fulham think about cashing in on the 28-year-old.
