According to Fabrizio Romano via Caught Offside, Victor Osimhen has agreed to pen down a new deal with Napoli. The Nigerian international has an agreement in principle to sign a new contract with the Italian giants amidst interest in his services from Chelsea. The deal will include a release clause worth €130 million.

Victor Osimhen has gone from strength to strength since joining Napoli in the summer of 2020 from LOSC Lille. The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world. The Nigerian international was on fire last season as he helped the Partenopei end their Serie A drought.
With 31 goal contributions in his 32 league outings, Osimhen played a big part in helping Napoli end their 30-year-long wait for the Serie A title. He has carried on in a similar fashion in the 2023/24 season. The 24-year-old has seven goal contributions in his 11 league outings.
Osimhen’s consistent performances and incredible form in front of goal have resulted in a lot of interest. Chelsea are one of the clubs that have been linked with Nigerian international for a while now. The Blues lack the much-needed firepower up top.

The West London club had struggled to score goals at the start of the season and of late, the story has been quite similar. As a result, they want a new number nine. Chelsea want to sign someone who can guarantee goals, and Victor Osimhen can surely help their cause.
He is a proven goal scorer and his arrival will be a big boost for the team. While the 24-year-old is all set to pen down a new deal with Napoli, the new contract might not be that big a problem for the Blues.
Osimhen’s current contract runs out in the summer of 2025. If he ends up entering the final year of his deal, Napoli might not be able to make the best out of his sale. As a result, they want to offer him a new deal with improved terms until the summer of 2026.
The new deal will have Napoli in the driving seat. But there will be a release clause in his deal which could Chelsea’s life a lot easier. As per the report, the clause could be worth €130 million, and it could result in a move away from the club in the summer of 2024.
