Chelsea are willing to fork out €100 million to sign 25-year-old Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres in January as they seek a new No.9.
According to Fichajes, Chelsea could fork out €100 million in January to sign Viktor Gyokeres. Sporting CP have no intention to let the summer signing leave unless suitors are willing to pay a substantial amount, which the Blues are open towards.
Chelsea might make another €100 million-plus signing in three consecutive transfer windows if they can sign Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish striker has made a stellar mark on suitors following his summer move to Sporting CP in a €20 million deal.
He had suitors from the Premier League but reportedly chose Sporting CP over Brentford, which has undoubtedly suited his cause. At 25, Gyokeres might open his doors again for a big move within six months of arriving in Portugal, with many clubs showing interest.
For Sporting, Gyokeres has notched 15 goals and 7 assists in 18 games across all competitions. The Swedish star could also play all three front positions, making him one of the most lethal versatile forwards on the continent. Arsenal have kept tabs on the forward, but they might back away knowing what Sporting desires to sell him in January.
The Portuguese side have no interest in selling him unless clubs pay an exorbitant fee in exchange. Chelsea have also held an interest, and as per the report, they are willing to fork out €100 million to sign the 15-goal attacker in January.
Chelsea are keen on a new No.9 in January with massive links to names like Dusan Vlahovic, Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney. They are looking for more alternatives if their priority targets cannot move clubs, which has taken them back to Portugal.
Chelsea made a significant mark in the last January window by signing Enzo Fernandez in a deal close to €120 million from Benfica. The Blues could repeat the trick with a massive move for Gyokeres and pay Sporting a fee of more than €100 million in exchange.
Gyokeres, for his part will look for a big career jump, considering he is at the age when top strikers start playing for a big team. However, things will also depend on which other suitor shows interest, as he would love to play in the Champions League, something the Blues cannot offer for the time being or even next season.
