Arsenal are keen on acquiring the services of 25-year-old Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres and have been monitoring him for a while now.

According to Record via Sport Witness, Arsenal are keen on having Viktor Gyokeres in their ranks. The 25-year-old Sporting CP striker has been on fire in the ongoing season, and his impressive performances have resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.

Viktor Gyokeres joined the Portuguese club ahead of the ongoing season. There were quite a few clubs keen on signing him but Sporting forked out €20 million to acquire the services of the Swedish international. The move has gone according to plan for both the striker as well as the club.

The Swede has featured in a total of 17 matches and has managed to contribute towards 22 goals. He has found the back on the net on 15 occasions and has bagged seven assists. The 25-year-old incredible start has resulted in a lot of interest, and Arsenal are one of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks.

The Gunners have been monitoring Viktor Gyokeres since his days in the Championship. But, they were never really serious about acquiring his services. However, his recent form has changed their stance, the North London club now want to add him to their ranks in the near future.

Arsenal already have two quality strikers in their squad. But, Mikel Arteta is not happy with their output in the final third. As a result, the Spanish manager wants to sign a number nine who can guarantee goals and Gyokeres’s recent form suggests he could be a great fit for the club.

According to the report, the Gunners have already sent scouts to watch him in action on multiple occasions. Their scouts are quite convinced with his performances and have given the green light to his signing. Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta wants to add a striker in the upcoming transfer window and would love to add the Sporting striker to his ranks. But, that might not be possible in the winter window.

The Portuguese club have no intentions of selling him in January and the only way Arsenal can sign him next month is by triggering his release clause worth €100 million. The Gunners are unlikely to spend that big a fee on him, as a result, they might have to wait until the summer to see if Sporting are willing to negotiate a lower price.
