Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have started making moves as they look to acquire the services of Crystal Palace sensation Marc Guehi.
According to a report by Football Insider, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are both keen on having Marc Guehi in their ranks. Both teams are looking to reinforce their defence in the upcoming transfer window and they are eager to get their hands on one of the best young centre-backs in the league.
Guehi came up the ranks at Chelsea but things didn’t work out according to plan and he parted ways with the Blues in the summer of 2021. Crystal Palace managed to sign the 23-year-old for a fee of £20 million.
He has since gone from strength to strength and is currently one of the mainstays of the team. Guehi has featured in a total of 98 matches for the Eagles and has even contributed towards six goals.
His impressive performances have earned him a place in the England national team and it has also attracted a lot of attention from across Europe.
In the Premier League, Manchester United and Crystal Palace are two clubs keen on having the 23-year-old. The Red Devils do not have much depth in the heart of the defence. Jonny Evans and Lisandro Martinez are out injured while Raphael Varane has been injury prone since arrival at the club.
As a result, Erik ten Hag is keen on defensive reinforcement and United are looking to sign the 23-year-old who has been doing wonders of late. Guehi has been on their radar for a while now and they have started making moves to sign him.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur’s incredible start to the new season has hit a standstill because of the multiple injuries they have suffered. Injury to their summer signing Micky van de Ven has been the biggest blow. With Eric Dier struggling for form, Spurs do need a new centre-back.
They are huge admirers of Guehi and feel he could help them in the short as well as long run. Both United and Spurs are keen and they have already registered their interest in the 23-year-old. The Eagles value him at £60 million and according to the report the Red Devils are willing to offer £45 million in the upcoming transfer window. And, it will be interesting to see how things pan out from here on.
