Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.

The 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder is reportedly a target for clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool according to a report from 90 Min. However, the player has revealed that he’s happy at Aston Villa and he is enjoying his role under Unai Emery.

“Unai, honestly, is an incredible manager. Since he arrived here, he has changed the history of the club. Aston Villa is a very big club in England, but things weren’t going so well. Unai has changed it. Now, people respect the club and the players more,” Luiz added.

“I believe I am in the best moment of my career. The manager demands a lot from me and I believe he has helped me a lot as well. I am happier than ever to keep working and continue evolving.”

The West Midlands club have shown tremendous improvement since the arrival of the Spanish manager and they are currently pushing for Champions League qualification.

Aston Villa have been formidable at home and they have beaten clubs like Manchester City. It remains to be seen whether they can secure a top-four finish by the end of the season.

Douglas Luiz has been a key player for them this season and his performances have been outstanding. It is no surprise that the top clubs are keen on securing his services. It will be interesting to see if the 25-year-old Brazilian ends up leaving the club at the end of the season.

Regardless of admiration for Emery and Aston Villa, the opportunity to join a top club can be hard to turn down.

Arsenal and Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world. The Gunners need to bring in a quality defensive midfielder to replace Thomas Partey and the Brazilian would be a superb acquisition. Similarly, Liverpool are yet to replace Fabinho and they need a quality defence midfielder as well. They tried to sign players like Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia in the summer but both players ended up joining Chelsea instead.

It will be interesting to see which of the two English clubs decide to try and make a move for the Aston Villa midfielder in the coming months. It is highly unlikely that the West Midlands club will sanction his departure midway through the season and therefore any transfer might have to wait until the summer transfer window.

Aston Villa are unlikely to let him leave easily and therefore the two clubs might have to shell out a premium in order to secure his signature.
