Ange Postecoglou is reportedly ready to test Bryan Gil more in his team and hand the 22-year-old prospect a lifeline to his Tottenham career.
According to Fichajes, Bryan Gil might have found a new lease on life at Tottenham as Ange Postecoglou is willing to place his trust. The 22-year-old prospect has remained on the periphery of the first team, but recently, he has benefitted from ample game time.
Bryan Gil arrived at Tottenham in a deal that saw Erik Lamela move across to Sevilla. Spurs paid a decent amount of cash to sign the exciting Spanish star, but he has yet to live up to expectations since arriving in north London.
Gil has already spent time on loan with separate spells back in his homeland with Valencia and his former side, Sevilla. With the latter, he won the Europa League last season; despite that success, he will have wanted to make a mark at Tottenham, who were ready to sell him as recently as September.
With injuries to key first-team attackers, Ange Postecoglou trusted Gil and afforded him some game time in the Premier League. He has done a modest job, but the Australian manager is willing to count on the 22-year-old prospect for the future.
As per the report, Postecoglou could hand Gil a new lease of life at Tottenham and involve him more going forward this season. There are chances of Spanish clubs coming into the mix to lure the 22-year-old prospect away, as he must make a big career decision ahead.
Hence, the suggestions point towards Postecoglou wanting to keep hold of Gil for the remainder of the season. Spurs could decide in the summer, as they would surely hope for the 22-year-old to start performing at expected levels.
In hindsight, Gil plays more due to some injuries to critical first-team stars like Richarlison and Manor Solomon. Moreover, Spurs are already looking for new attackers in the January window with links to Samuel Iling-Junior, as the Juventus star’s arrival could make Gil think about his long-term or even immediate future.
Similarly, Tottenham are also linked with Johan Bakayoko, the PSV Eindhoven talent, and if either move happens, it might put Gil under pressure. For now, he might feature in Postecoglou’s plans, but the future of football could change instantly, which might happen in January.
