Tottenham are actively considering the sale of unwanted star Bryan Gil, with La Liga duo Valencia and Real Sociedad interested.
According to Fichajes, Bryan Gil’s Tottenham future could be in danger as the club ponders selling the Spaniard in the next window. The 22-year-old is yet to feature under Ange Postecoglou owing to an injury, but Spurs are not actively looking to keep him as he has interest from La Liga clubs.
Bryan Gil was supposed to realise his talent at Tottenham when he joined the club as part of a deal that saw Erik Lamela leave for Sevilla. Six months later, the 22-year-old was back in La Liga with Valencia, where he made a mild impression.
Since then, it’s all been topsy-turvy for Bryan Gil at Tottenham, as he spent another season out on loan, this time with former side Sevilla. This particular spell bore results as the 22-year-old won the Europa League with the club.
While he has since returned to Tottenham, Bryan Gil has yet to feature under new boss Ange Postecoglou owing to an injury that has kept him out. His return remains unknown, and there’s also uncertainty about whether the Australian would integrate him into the setup.
Spurs have started the season in solid style, and while Postecoglou has given all his remaining players chances, he could do that with the 22-year-old, too. However, Tottenham might consider a sale if they receive reasonable offers, with two La Liga clubs showing an interest.
Valencia, where Bryan Gil played for half a season, are keen to bring him back. Real Sociedad are the other team, who view the 22-year-old as a viable replacement for Takefusa Kubo, who has links to Real Madrid. In the event of the Japanese star leaving for the Spanish capital, Sociedad could make a swoop for the Spurs star.
Neither of these clubs have the financial capacity to make a firm offer to Tottenham’s liking in January. Hence, the report suggests Valencia and Real Sociedad could make a loan move and include a buy option. In that case, Spurs might instead look to have a clause that makes it obligatory for those clubs to buy Bryan Gil for a certain cost.
It was a terrible decision to sell Lamela in the first place.
