Paris Saint-Germain have joined the race to sign Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Moscardo, a target for Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona.
A report from 90min has claimed that French champions Paris Saint-Germain will rival the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona in the race to sign 18-year-old Corinthians midfielder Gabriel Moscardo. Les Parisiens have already opened talks to land the young prodigy.
PSG are looking to put together a formidable squad for the future, and the 18-year-old would be a sensational long-term investment for them. Moscardo has all the attributes to develop into a world-class midfielder, and PSG could help him fulfil his potential. So, it is hardly surprising they have opened talks to sign him.
They are one of the wealthiest clubs in the world and should not have any problems competing with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona. Meanwhile, the Gunners need to sign a quality long-term replacement for the exit-linked Thomas Partey, and the 18-year-old Brazilian fits the profile.
He could be a key player for them in the coming seasons, and Mikel Arteta could nurture him into a first-team star. The Arsenal manager has done well to develop the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka in recent seasons, and he could play a key role in the development of Moscardo as well.
As for Chelsea, they need more quality and depth in their squad to match up to Manchester City, and Moscardo would be a solid acquisition. The Blues already have players like Romeo Lavia, Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher at their disposal. Signing another quality midfielder could sort out their midfield unit for the foreseeable future.
As for Barcelona, they need someone to replace Sergio Busquets in the long run, and the Brazilian certainly fits the mould. The 18-year-old could be a key player for them in the coming seasons. But competing with Paris Saint-Germain is going to be a tough proposition for the Blaugrana.
They are already stretched thin on the financial front and might not be able to pay a premium for the player. Meanwhile, the Brazilian midfielder will look to continue his development with regular football at the highest level, and if Paris Saint-Germain can promise him regular game time, he is likely to be tempted to join them.
