Chelsea looking to sell Malang Sarr in January

Chelsea are reportedly looking to cash in on 24-year-old French defender Malang Sarr during the January transfer window.

A report from Daily Telegraph claimed that 24-year-old Frenchman Malang Sarr is unwanted at Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea are hoping to move him on.

The defender has barely played for Chelsea since joining the club, and he was on loan at AS Monaco last season. The Frenchman needs to play regularly at this stage of his career. But he will not get those opportunities at Stamford Bridge.

So, it makes sense for Malang Sarr to move on in search of regular playing time, and it remains to be seen where he ends up. The 24-year-old could be a useful acquisition for most clubs, and he could be available for a nominal fee given his situation at the London club.

Chelsea have made a disappointing start to the current campaign, and they need to bring in quality additions in January in order to turn things around. They already have a bloated squad and need to get rid of some of their fringe players in order to balance the books.

Chelsea will need to invest in a quality striker during the January transfer window, and selling someone like Sarr will certainly boost their transfer coffers. Apparently, the Blues will have a “one in, one out” policy in the coming transfer windows.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old is not the only defender Chelsea are looking to get rid of. They could cash in on the likes of Trevoh Chalobah and Ian Maatsen as well. All three players have struggled for game time this season, and they are better off joining other clubs in the coming months.

Sarr will be disappointed to have failed to make his mark at Chelsea and will now look to get his career back on track with regular football at another club during the second half of the campaign. The 24-year-old Frenchman is still relatively young and he could improve with game time and experience.

Chelsea will hope to recoup a substantial amount of money from their departures during the January transfer window and invest the proceeds in a quality striker who can score goals for them consistently and help them finish the season strongly.
