Liverpool will allow 20-year-old defensive prospect Jarell Quansah a January loan departure amid interest from Leicester City.

According to a report by The Sun, Jarell Quansah is gaining popularity in the transfer market. The 20-year-old Liverpool defensive prospect has captured the attention of Preston North End and Leicester City. And the Reds are ready to listen to offers for a loan deal for the young centre-back.

Jarell Quansah is the latest promising prospect to emerge from Liverpool’s fabled academy. Not since Trent Alexander-Arnold a few years ago has a talented youngster set the stage alight at Anfield. While Curtis Jones has come close, he has mostly been a backup option in the midfield unit.

But Quansah’s performances have impressed the coaches at the Merseyside club. The 20-year-old, who made his first-team debut for Liverpool in August 2023, has turned out nine times thus far this season. But regular game time has come at a premium after the initial spell in the starting lineup.

With Jurgen Klopp’s defensive unit being at full strength, Quansah’s game time has significantly reduced. So, it behoves Liverpool to sanction a loan deal for the talented young prospect in the January transfer window. Meanwhile, the England youth international has no shortage of suitors, with Preston North End and Leicester City interested.

Preston North End and Leicester City are promotion hopefuls for the Premier League this season in the EFL Championship. While the Foxes are perched atop the table and will fancy their chances of securing a top-two finish, Preston can end the campaign in the playoffs spots, if not one of the top two positions.

So, it is hardly surprising that Leicester City and Preston North End are scouring the market to strengthen their squads in January. The two clubs have thus set their sights on signing Jarell Quansah from Liverpool. And the Reds are preparing to sanction a January loan deal for the 20-year-old defensive prospect.

Reports in September had suggested that Liverpool would not listen to offers for Quansah. But amid their links with Lucas Beraldo, the Reds can afford to loan out the England youth international. He can return to Anfield better experienced before continuing to make the efforts to succeed Virgil van Dijk.
