Tottenham could cool their interest in Trevoh Chalobah amid the fitness concerns surrounding the 24-year-old Chelsea utility man.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham might look away from Trevoh Chalobah amid fitness concerns surrounding the 24-year-old Chelsea utility man. The Blues’ homegrown star suffered another setback, which could force Spurs into considering other defensive targets in January.

Tottenham are about to enter a pivotal stage of their season and will want to come through it unscathed. Spurs have lost their last two games, dropping to fourth place. The next four matches are crucial for their title chances.

Micky van de Ven’s absence has weakened their defence, as Eric Dier and Ben Davies do not meet Postecoglou’s standards. Hence, Spurs are keen on signing a central defender in January, and there are a few options they can consider.

They had an interest in Trevoh Chalobah and could have made a late move in the summer transfer window. Luckily, nothing happened, and the defender stayed at Stamford Bridge. However, he still needs to recover fully.

While he was getting better, the 24-year-old Chelsea player faced another problem. This setback means he will probably be unable to play until early January. In hindsight, Spurs not signing him proved the right decision, as he will have missed six months of action.

Tottenham might not be as interested in the 24-year-old Chelsea player for the January window. Postecoglou needed a left-footed player to cover Van de Ven, but that is not a deal breaker. They are already linked with names like Edmond Tapsoba and Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo as they hope to secure at least one new centre-back.

There are links with Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly, which is a realistic deal for Spurs to follow. Bayern Munich are also keen on Chalobah, but Tottenham and the Germans might wait until the summer to decide.

Hence, it is safe to assume Chalobah could stay at Chelsea until the summer. The Blues may not get the full value if they sell him in January. His recent fitness problems make any deal in the winter window doubtful.
