Raphael Varane could seek an exit from Manchester United in January after a breakdown in relations with Erik ten Hag.

According to Team Talk, Raphael Varane could consider his Manchester United future after emerging problems with Erik ten Hag. The experienced Frenchman has few quality suitors keeping tabs on his situation as the club are figuring out a way to solve the conundrum.

Manchester United’s disastrous start to the season coincided with losing key players to injuries. Since the campaign began, Erik ten Hag had to make do without some essential stars, who he lost as the games progressed.

Defensive injuries have hit Manchester United hard after losing Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane. The other three are yet to return, but the Frenchman has made his comeback, but Ten Hag has not selected him with regularity.

After choosing to play veteran Jonny Evans in a recent game, Ten Hag cited ‘tactical reasons’ as the excuse for not selecting Varane. The report suggests the Frenchman has grown frustrated with his manager and could seek an exit in the January window.

The £17 million-a-year star, who remains one of the club’s highest-paid players, will find it challenging to get that kind of a salary elsewhere. There’s interest from Saudi Clubs, who could adequately compensate him, but the 30-year-old does not favour a move to the Middle East yet.

Bayern Munich are also interested, as this is a foreign club that might turn Varane’s head. The idea of leaving Manchester United will only materialise if he can stick around in Europe and compete at the highest level, something he can in Bavaria.

However, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe set to take charge of sporting decisions at Manchester United after successfully acquiring a 25% stake in the club would want to resolve the situation between Varane and Ten Hag.

Sir Ratcliffe is already prioritising a move for Jean-Clair Todibo using his influence at OGC Nice. The Frenchman’s arrival could spell the end for the £17 million-a-year star at Manchester United. The 30-year-old brings in vast experience, something the club are keen on valuing, and hence, they want to resolve the issue between him and Ten Hag.

With Ten Hag not eager to sell Varane in January, the board might change this stance if they can get an exceptional offer in the market. Secondly, they must replace the Frenchman with an able player, but that will cost them a lot of money, primarily if they target defenders like Todibo.
