Tottenham are reportedly not contemplating selling out-of-form striker Richarlison in the January transfer window amidst interest from Saudi Pro League clubs.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur will not sell Richarlison in January and will block any outside approach. The Brazil international left Everton in the summer of 2022 for Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth up to £60 million.

Richarlison was a fans’ favourite at Goodison Park, scoring 53 goals in 152 games and playing a key role when Everton avoided Premier League relegation by the skin of their teeth in the 2021/22 season. But since joining Spurs, the Brazilian international has largely struggled. He has bagged just two league goals — and five in 46 games in all competitions.

He only scored once in the Premier League during his debut season in North London. Richarlison’s second season with Spurs has now been interrupted by a physical problem since he recently required groin surgery. However, even before his surgery, Ange Postecoglou was sometimes preferring to pick other players, with Son Heung-min and Brennan Johnson ahead of the Brazilian in the pecking order.

As per a recent report from, the Brazil international has become one of the main objectives in the ever-evolving Saudi Pro League for January. Chiefs in the Middle East have been regarding Tottenham skipper Son Heung-min as a dream target for the January transfer window. But with no chance of Spurs selling their talismanic forward in the New Year, the attention has turned to Richarlison, who might still get one last chance for redemption at Tottenham.

Although Spurs have yet to see a return on their huge investment, they will not part ways with the attacker midway through the season, per Football Insider, partly down to a lack of depth in attacking areas.

Ange Postecoglou faces a daunting task in dealing with injuries to James Maddison and Micky van de Ven during a busy winter period, while Son Heung-min suffered an injury scare while on international duty for South Korea.

Postecoglou will opt to have Richarlison in the starting XI in the near future as part of the rotation, giving him the opportunity to show why they bought him. The 26-year-old will be eager to get his career back on track once he is fit again after a difficult few months on and off the pitch. The fact that he has 20 international goals to his name shows what he can be capable of at a competitive level.

The report adds that if Richarlison’s terrible run in front of goal continues, Tottenham may entertain big-money bids from Saudi Arabia next summer. Finding a method where both players can thrive and fit in with the team would greatly benefit Postecoglou as he looks to steer Spurs to a top-four finish this season.

Take the money and run, then reinvest it of course. We won’t get a better chance of at least getting our money back on Richarlison.
