Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly cooled their interest in signing in-demand 27-year-old Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

Ivan Toney has been linked with a move to Tottenham. But it seems that the North Londoners will now pursue Barcelona winger Raphinha instead. A report from Football Transfers claims that Spurs will not move for Toney in the near future.

The 27-year-old striker is currently suspended for breaching gambling regulations, and he will return to action midway through January. Toney has been linked with other Premier League bigwigs like Arsenal and Chelsea as well. So, it will be interesting to see where he ends up during the second half of the campaign.

Tottenham could have certainly used a quality striker like him, especially after the departure of Harry Kane. Richarlison has been largely underwhelming, and Tottenham need to bring in a reliable goalscorer. The 27-year-old Brentford striker could have made an immediate impact, and he would have improved them going forward.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can get a deal done for Raphinha. The Brazilian winger has played in the Premier League before, and he will add creativity and flair to the Spurs attack going forward. He has had a mixed spell at the Spanish club, and the player has been linked with the return to the Premier League for months now.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can agree on a reasonable fee with Barcelona in the coming weeks. Raphinha is reportedly valued at €70 million, and the asking price could prove to be prohibited to any transfer. Tottenham will want to sign him for a more reasonable price and Barcelona will have to lower their demands in order for the transfer to go through.

The Brazilian winger played some of his best football in England with Leeds United, and the opportunity to return to the Premier League could be an exciting option for him. Ange Postecoglou’s attacking system could bring out the best in him and help him recapture his peak form.

There is no doubt that he’s a top-quality attacker who will improve Tottenham going forward. As for Toney, he has no shortage of suitors, with Arsenal and Chelsea also keen on signing him. Both clubs are in the market for a striker, and Tottenham’s decision comes as a boost for them.
