Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Barcelona winger Raphinha in January transfer window, with the Blaugrana hoping to sign Cristian Romero in return.

A report from Football Transfers has claimed that Barcelona want €70 million for Raphinha, and they could be keen to execute a swap deal involving Cristian Romero as well. However, the 25-year-old Argentine international is Tottenham’s best defender, and letting him leave the club would be a devastating blow for them.

It is highly unlikely that Tottenham let him leave any time soon. If they want to sign Raphinha, they will have to pay the asking price for the 26-year-old. But Romero is popular in the market, with recent reports linking him with Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, Raphinha has had a mixed spell at Camp Nou since his move from Leeds United, and a return to the Premier League could be ideal for him. The Brazilian international has proven his quality in the Premier League with Leeds in the past, and he could be a quality acquisition for Tottenham Hotspur.

The North London outfit need to add more quality and cutting edge in the final third. Players like Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic are currently sidelined with long-term injuries, and Richarlison has not been able to perform at a high level. Someone like Raphinha will add creativity and flair in the final third. He can chip in with important goals as well.

The 26-year-old knows the Premier League well, and he should be able to make an immediate impact if he joins the club. The reported asking price can be a bit of a problem, and it remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy is ready to spend €70 million on the Barcelona player.

Tottenham will probably hope to sign in for a more reasonable price, and it remains to be seen whether Barcelona are prepared to reduce their demands. The reigning La Liga champions need to bring in players of their own, and they will have to recoup money through sales.

Barcelona have limited resources, and Raphinha is a bankable asset for them. Spurs have started the season really well, and they will look to get back to the UEFA Champions League. Quality signs in January will certainly help them do so.
