Newcastle United are ready to battle it out with Manchester United for the services of 21-year-old Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

According to a report by Football Transfers, Newcastle United are interested in acquiring the services of Jarrad Branthwaite. The 21-year-old defender has made quite a name for himself with impressive performances in the ongoing season, and the Magpies are keen on having him in their ranks. The Everton defender is also a target for Manchester United.

Jarrad Branthwaite joined Everton in the winter of 2020 after coming through the ranks at Carlisle United. He was been subject to multiple loan moves since joining the Merseyside club. Last season, the 21-year-old was out on loan at PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie, and he did wonders for them.

Now, he is back at his parent club and has forced his way into the starting XI. He has featured in 12 matches for Everton in the ongoing season. The 21-year-old has been in exceptional form and has been amongst the best defenders in the league so far.

Branthwaite’s impressive performances have caught the eyes of Newcastle United. Their manager Eddie How is a big fan of the player and wants him at his disposal. Howe feels the England youth international has all the qualities to be the long-term successor of Fabian Schar, who is already 31.

His abilities suggest he could complement Kieran Trippier in the best possible way. Trippier has all the experience in the world, and Branthwaite is someone who has the pace and strength. They could form a deadly pair on the right side of the Magpies’ defence.

The 21-year-old has been on their radar for a while now, and they are considering making a move in the near future. Howe wants the Magpies to push for his services in the winter window. He does not want to wait until the summer because it could result in a lot of competition.

At present, Manchester United are one of the clubs that could cause problems for Newcastle United. The Red Devils are interested in the England youth international’s services, and they have been monitoring him for a while now.

Manchester United have suffered way too many injuries in the heart of the defence in the ongoing season and do need reinforcements, with Sam Curtis recently emerging as a target. As a result, the Red Devils could challenge Newcastle United in January.
