Manchester City ready to pay €60 million to sign Federico Dimarco

Manchester City are reportedly willing to pay €60 million to sign Federico Dimarco, as there is a possibility of a departure from Inter Milan.

According to Calciomercatoweb, Manchester City could make a sizeable offer to tempt Inter Milan into selling Federico Dimarco. The 2022/23 treble winners are reportedly willing to fork out €60 million to sign the 26-year-old Italian wide man, as a key decision on his future could make Inter fans anxious.

There are not many attacking full-backs in Serie A than Federico Dimarco, who has taken his game to another level under Simone Inzaghi. The 26-year-old plays in that attacking wing-back role for Inter Milan for most parts. But at times, he has also operated as a traditional full-back or even as an attacker.

His ability to take control of the left-hand side of the pitch makes him an exciting option. Hence, there are no surprises that a host of Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in signing the 26-year-old from Inter Milan.

The Nerazzurri fans consider him a favourite and would show disappointed if they decide to cash in. He is one of their prized assets, and if Inter Milan decide to sell him, they would demand at least €60 million or something closer.

Despite smashing sales in recent windows, Inter Milan have had trouble balancing their books. Hence, more departures could materialise in the coming windows. And with some Premier League clubs showing keen interest in some of their top performers like Dimarco, Lautaro Martinez, Nicolo Barella, and Alessandro Bastoni, one of those have a big chance to depart.

Despite prolonged interest from Manchester United and Chelsea, it appears Manchester City are keeping close tabs on the 26-year-old Italian wide man. Dimarco and Inter Milan are also discussing a new contract. But there are still two and a half years to run on the current deal.

The report suggests Manchester City could pay €60 million for Dimarco, and if a bid arrives, it would test Inter Milan’s resolve. Pep Guardiola has adapted to playing centre-backs in full-back roles, especially on the left side, he may have thought about reverting his decision.

Big summer arrival Josko Gvardiol continues to look better in the central role, and Guardiola might look to reshape the left-hand side. They might also sell Sergio Gomez in January, thus opening space for a new player to arrive, improving the position and opening up competition for places.

All signs now lean towards Dimarco signing an extension with Inter Milan. Still, if a big bid arrives from a Premier League side like Manchester City, either party may change their stance.
