Chelsea, Newcastle United rival Liverpool in Assane Diao chase

Chelsea and Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing the Real Betis winger Assane Diao, a target for Liverpool.

A report from Mucho Deporte has claimed that Chelsea and Newcastle United will provide stiff competition to Liverpool for Assane Diao. La Liga giants Real Betis value the winger at around €30 million.

Assane Diao is highly rated in La Liga, and he has a bright future ahead of him. The 18-year-old winger could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Liverpool.

The 18-year-old is versatile enough to operate on both flanks, and he will add goals and creativity to any team. The winger has six goals across all competitions this season, and he has a contract with Real Betis until the summer of 2027.

The Spanish outfit are under no pressure to sell him just yet, and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops. Chelsea already have a number of quality wingers at their disposal, and a move for Diao would be quite surprising. They should look to invest in a quality striker instead. They need to add more goals to their attack, and they need a reliable finisher.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United could certainly use more quality and depth in the wide areas. They need someone who can help break down deep defences with his pace and flair. Diao would be a quality fit for them. Regular football with them in the Premier League will also accelerate his development.

Newcastle United are an ambitious club and they are competing in the UEFA Champions League. It would be a step up in the 18-year-old’s career. Similarly, Liverpool need more depth in the wide areas as well and have their sights set on Diao.

Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz are the only natural wingers at the club. The 18-year-old would be a solid long-term investment for them, and someone like Jurgen Klopp could help him develop further and fulfil his tremendous potential.

The reported €30 million valuation could look like a bargain if he manages to hit the ground running in the Premier League and fulfil his potential in the coming seasons. All three clubs have the resources to sign the player, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.
