The 28-year-old World Cup finalist will have six months left on his contract, which could pave the way for sides like Manchester United and Newcastle United to advance in their chase.
Adrien Rabiot came close to leaving Juventus two summer windows ago, but he has since re-established himself as a vital part of the club. Massimiliano Allegri considers him an essential part of his team and would want the club to extend his contract.
The 28-year-old World Cup finalist again came close to leaving the club last summer, with Juventus eventually agreeing a one-year extension to keep the midfielder. In January, he will have six months left on his deal, and some quarters have insisted Rabiot remains keen on experiencing Premier League football.
He has several teams from England vying for his signature, as the 28-year-old World Cup finalist is seen as a valuable addition by many. Manchester United and Newcastle United are keen, with the dup considered front runners to sign the midfielder.
Another story claimed Juventus would sell him if they could find a replacement, although they have an already depleted midfield department. The bans on Nicolop Fagioli and Paul Pogba have left their midfield options thin, and Allegri is already looking to replace at least one.
Juventus may not have the funds to make two big signings. Moreover, the Bianconeri consider Rabiot necessary to their plans and are keen on offering him a new deal. Fabrizio Romano insists that despite links to the Premier League, Rabiot will not move out of Juventus in January and that the club could extend his contract.
Romano said, “Despite some speculation and his contract situation, my understanding is very clear that Adrien Rabiot is not leaving Juventus in January – it’s impossible.”
“Juventus want to keep Rabiot and will offer him new contract for sure, at the moment there are no contacts with other clubs even if he’d like to play in Premier League one day. But for Juventus, he remains a crucial player.”
Newcastle United view him as a potential replacement for Sandro Tonali, who will miss the next 10 months owing to a ban for illegal betting. The Magpies are also considering other options, as they or even Manchester United can enter a pre-contract agreement with Rabiot in January, meaning Juventus must start talks with the midfielder at the earliest.
Manchester United are also looking for a new midfielder after some terrible performances from Casemiro and the summer arrival of Sofyan Amrabat. If they can sign Rabiot on cheap in January, it would help with their season, but as things stand, that prospect looks difficult.
