Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have entered the race for the services of the 20-year-old Brazilian sensation Marcos Leonardo.

According to a report by Fichajes, Arsenal are keen on having Marcos Leonardo in their ranks. The 20-year-old sensation has been doing wonders in the Brazilian league and quite a few top European clubs are interested in his services.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are looking to bolster their squad in the short term. They have had a decent start to the new season but their manager Mikel Arteta feels the need to add reinforcement to their squad. He is looking to add more firepower to their attack in the winter transfer window. And, they have their eyes set on Leonardo.

The 20-year-old was promoted to the Santos first team back in the summer of 2020 and he has gone from strength to strength since. In the ongoing season, the Brazilian sensation has scored 21 goals and bagged another four assists in his 42 outings.

He has been doing wonders for the Brazil Under-20 team as well. In his seven outings for the youth team, he has scored seven goals. His impressive form for both club and country haven’t gone unnoticed. There is a lot of interest in his services.

Roma and Manchester United have both been linked with the Santos striker. The European giants have their eyes on him and would love to have him in their ranks. But, they will face tough competition from Arsenal.

The Gunners recently entered the race for his services and they are looking to land him at the club in the winter transfer window. While his contract runs until the end of 2026, the north London club could prise him away in January.

Mikel Arteta already has two quality strikers in his ranks. But, he is looking to add another in the winter. He wants someone with a different profile and feels Leonardo could be a great fit for the club.

The Gunners have already submitted an offer worth €20 million plus bonuses for the services of the 20-year-old. Arsenal do not want to lose out in the race for his services and they want to be ahead of others. As a result, they have submitted a bid as they look to land the young striker at the club on January 1.
