Manchester United learn asking price for Giorgio Scalvini

Atalanta are set to place a €50 million price tag on Manchester United defensive target Giorgio Scalvini amid mounting interest.

According to Tutto Atalanta, Manchester United must shell out at least €50 million to sign Giorgio Scalvini in January. The Red Devils are looking at the Atalanta defender alongside other options, but they must pay a premium to sign the Italian star.

Giorgio Scalvini is steadily becoming the next gem coming out of Atalanta after flourishing under Gian Piero Gasperini. The Serie A side continues to value him and will put up a fight to keep him at the club at least until the summer amid rising interest.

The 19-year-old comes with a promise of a bright future ahead, and hence, Atalanta does not wish to lose him now, at least not on the cheap. The current market has put more value on young, rising stars, and Scalvini certainly falls in that bracket.

Inter Milan are heavily interested in the defender as Simone Inzaghi wishes to sign him ahead of the January window. For Atalanta, he remains a crucial player, one who could potentially help them return to the Champions League next season.

If Atalanta are no longer able to challenge for a top-four place, then the Bergamo could consider offers if they match their valuation. Real Madrid are among the teams looking at the 19-year-old as a potential option. The heavy interest comes from Inter Milan and Manchester United.

Despite the uncertainties surrounding Erik Ten Hag’s future at the club, Manchester United need a new defender. Scalvini remains a player of interest, and recently, a report claimed Atalanta were seeking at least €40 million to sell him.

Atalanta reportedly wants at least €50 million to sell their prized asset and would prefer to sell him to Manchester United. Whether that’s an acceptable sum from Manchester United’s perspective remains the question. Scalvini certainly packs a promising future.

Manchester United and Atalanta have recently conducted business for Rasmus Hojlund. Whether that reflects on negotiations for Scalvini remains the question. The Italian defender remains one of their targets. Any move will depend on the Red Devils sorting out their finances to execute a deal of such high volume.
