Tottenham and Newcastle United could suffer a blow in their pursuit of Federico Chiesa, who could sign a new deal with Juventus.

According to Team Talk, Juventus could hand Federico Chiesa a new deal before the January window opens to ward off interest from Premier League sides. Tottenham and Newcastle United have remained keen on the £52 million-rated winger.

There have been a lot of rumours around Juvenrtus and the future of Federico Chiesa. The £52 million-rated winger, considered one of the club’s prized assets, may have fetched them good money in the January window. Several reports pointed towards the Bianconerin entertaining offers for the winger.

Between him and Dusan Vlahovic, they reportedly considered selling one. In that scenario, the 26-year-old winger is the more likely to leave. Instead, the latest report claims, Juventus have scheduled a meeting with Chiesa’s representatives to discuss a new deal.

If that comes out true and Chiesa ends up signing a new deal, the likes of some Premier League clubs will turn around disappointedly. Tottenham and Newcastle United have shown an interest in signing the winger during the January window.

Juventus were already thinking about a new contract for Chiesa, but now it appears they have made their mind up. Whether it means they will keep the winger for the longer term period remains the question. Even if they sell, they might get more for the £52 million-rated winger.

In any case, the likelihood of either Tottenham or Newcastle United signing Chiesa are already considered slim. The Magpies are in the market for a new midfielder following Sandro Tonali’s ban. They may focus their efforts on bringing someone, probably on loan.

Moreover, there are FFP concerns at Newcastle United, which may prevent the club from spending big in January. Tottenham, on the other hand, are looking for a wide attacker. They may want to balance their spending and spread it around to different players.

Much like Newcastle, Tottenham could also look for a new midfielder. Ange Postecoglou considers signing a new central defender as his priority for January as Spurs lack depth in that position. Hence, a move for Chiesa, especially for the price Juventus might demand, seems unlikely.

The only club that may yet make a move for the Italian winger are Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp may see Chiesa as a replacement for Mohamed Salah should the Egyptian make a sudden departure to Saudi Arabia in January.
Beyond that, Chiesa might sign a new deal with the club and probably remain at Juventus for a few seasons more. Newcastle United and Tottenham could re-visit their interest in the summer when things are different.
