Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur will have to fork out €70 million for the services of 27-year-old Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

According to a report by Fichajes, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on having Ivan Toney in their ranks. But, Brentford are determined to keep him at the club and have set a high asking price of €70 million to part ways with their 27-year-old goal-scoring machine.

Toney joined the Bees in the summer of 2020 and he hasn’t looked back since. The former Newcastle United striker has taken his game to the next level. He has featured in a total of 124 games for Brentford and has contributed towards 89 goals.

Last season, the 27-year-old featured in 33 Premier League games and he managed to find the back of the net on 20 occasions. He had a total of 24 goal contributions in the English top flight. His exceptional performances even earned him a spot in the English national team.

Just when everything was going according to plan, Toney received an eight-month-long ban because of being involved in illegal betting. The England international admitted to the alleged betting breaches and he was banned from all football-related activities and was fined £50,000.

A lot of clubs wanted to sign him during the summer but the ban derailed his dream of joining a bigger club. However, the interest in his services still remains. The 27-year-old’s ban ends on 16 January 2024. As a result, clubs are looking to sign him during the winter window.

Tottenham and Arsenal are both interested in the England international. Spurs parted ways with Harry Kane in the summer and they didn’t sign a replacement. While they have been doing wonders without any proper replacement, people at the club still feel the need for an out-and-out goal scorer. And, they feel Toney could be a great addition.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta wants to add a classic number nine to his ranks. He has two quality number nine’s in his ranks but he wants someone who is more physical and can guarantee a certain number of goals. As a result, the Gunners are looking to push for Toney’s services.

Brentford are well aware of the amount of interest in their star striker and they do not want to lose out on him. They have set a high asking price of €70 million for the England international. An amount that will make things difficult for the Gunners as well as Spurs.
