La Liga champions Barcelona are reportedly monitoring the progress of 25-year-old Ukrainian winger Viktor Tsygankov at Girona FC.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Viktor Tsygankov is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The 25-year-old has started life at Girona FC well, establishing himself as a regular for the Catalan club. And the reigning La Liga champions are closely monitoring his progress at Estadi Montilivi.

Viktor Tsygankov spent his formative years in his homeland, starting his youth career at Nyva Vinnytsya before winding up at Dynamo Kyiv. The Ukrainian international rapidly rose through the ranks at the giant of his country before making his first-team debut as an 18-year-old in August 2016.

The 25-year-old was a regular for Dynamo Kyiv in the last seven seasons, making nearly 250 appearances for the Ukrainian club. But Tsygankov’s stint with Dynamo Kyiv ended this past summer, with La Liga club Girona snapping him in a deal worth €5 million. And the player has hit the ground running at Estadi Montilivi.

Tsygankov has one goal and one assist in nine appearances thus far for Girona. While his tally is not too impressive, the player has become a pivotal member of the first-team squad. Meanwhile, his progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of reigning La Liga champions Barcelona.

The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a wide attacker amid uncertainties surrounding Ferran Torres. There have also been rumblings that Raphinha might end up on Barcelona’s transfer list if they are to raise money through sales. So, it behoves Barcelona to invest in a winger in the 2024 summer transfer window.

Several wide attackers, including Nico Williams, have emerged on Barcelona’s radar. But Williams will soon sign a new contract with Athletic Club, putting a spanner in the works for Barcelona. So, Tsygankov has emerged as a viable target for the reigning La Liga champions.

The 25-year-old will be well-settled in La Liga by the time the summer transfer window opens next year. But it will be interesting to see if other targets also emerge on Barcelona’s radar as they plan for the 2024/25 season.
