Manchester United, Liverpool keen on Robin Le Normand

Manchester United and Liverpool are ready to battle it out for the services of 26-year-old Real Sociedad centre-back Robin Le Normand.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Manchester United and Liverpool are both keen on having Robin Le Normand in their ranks. The 26-year-old centre-back has gone from strength to strength over the years and his impressive performances in the recent past have attracted a lot of attention.

Normand started his career at the French club Brest before joining Real Sociedad’s B team in the summer of 2016. After impressive performances for the B team, he was promoted to their first team in the summer of 2019. And, the 26-year-old hasn’t looked back since.

He has established himself as one of the most important players in the team and has racked up 190 appearances for the Spanish club. The Spain international has even contributed towards 11 goals. In the ongoing season, he already has 12 appearances and has done a great job so far.

Normand is approaching his prime years and there is a lot of interest in his services. While he did pen down an extension last summer and his new deal runs until the summer of 2026, there is €50 million in his contract that could be triggered.

Manchester United and Liverpool are two clubs that could trigger his release. Both clubs are looking to reinforce their defence in 2024. They recently sent out scouts to look for options across Europe. And, both the club’s scouts seem to be very impressed with what they have seen of Normand. They feel the 26-year-old could be a great fit for their club.

Erik ten Hag’s team have struggled with defensive injuries and signing a new centre-back is a priority for them at this stage. Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool do not have much depth in the heart of their defence and Normand could be a great addition to their ranks.

The Spain international will not only add depth to the United and Liverpool defence but he can surely be a starter in both teams. As a result, the battle for signatures could be the one to watch out for.
