Liverpool are among a host of clubs engaged in talks with the management of Assan Ouedraogo, as the teenager could move out of Schalke.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Assan Ouedraogo continues to attract the interest of top teams, with Liverpool among those engaged in talks with his management. The Merseysiders are keen to tie up a move for the 17-year-old German wonderkid and will hope to beat off competition.

Assan Ouedraogo is already considered one of the top talents to emerge out of Schalke’s famed academy. The 17-year-old German wonderkid has made his mark and continues to become an important player for the Bundesliga second-division side.

This season, the 17-year-old has racked up ten appearances in the league, scoring once in the process. Ouedraogo is earmarked to have a bright future at the club, but Schalke face the prospect of warding off massive interest in the young star.

A recent report stated the 2. Bundesliga side had an agreement in place for Ouedraogo to sign a new three-year deal in May 2024, when he turns 18. That might still be the case, but the financial conditions at Schalke might force their hand towards a sale of the highly rated talent.

Florian Plettenberg explicitly talks about Eintracht Frankfurt’s interest in the 17-year-old German wunderkind but also names a host of other teams. He also ruled out a potential move to bitter rivals Borussia Dortmund, but RB Leipzig are in the hunt for Ouedraogo.

Plettenberg also named Liverpool as a club who have engaged in talks with Ouedraogo’s management in recent times. Others have done the same, as the interest continues to mount in the 17-year-old star.

Liverpool have courted the youngster recently, and with the report of talks with his management, there is a clear indication about a possible approach. Jurgen Klopp has consistently brought in exciting youngsters from elsewhere to nourish and develop them into first-team players.

Of some of the recent examples, Harvey Elliott’s name flashes in on the front, although there have been a few misses, like Fabio Carvalho. In any case, Klopp likes the idea of giving these youngsters regular game time whenever he can squeeze it in and might have a similar plan for Ouedraogo.

Hence, this interest in Ouedraogo might have some legs and one to watch out for. The competition might grow intense in the coming period, with the 17-year-old German wonderkid also standing with the chance of signing a new deal with Schalke.
