Chelsea are reportedly plotting a double raid on Serie A as they line up January moves for Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen and Federico Dimarco.

According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea have made an enquiry about the possibility of signing Inter Milan left-back Federico Dimarco; however, the Italian international is set to put pen to paper on a new deal at the San Siro instead.

After a pitiful start to the season, Chelsea have shown plenty of signs that head coach Mauricio Pochettino is finally starting to get a tune out of his extremely expensively assembled stars. After losing dismally at home to both Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa, a Carabao Cup win against Brighton sparked them into life.

Since then, they have negotiated a pair of potentially tricky wins at neighbours Fulham and relegation-threatened Burnley, where they netted four goals, before sharing the spoils in a 2-2 thriller against Arsenal.

With the January transfer window not far away, it seems they are already lining up moves. The Blues head coach is keen to bolster his striking options in the winter transfer window after watching his goal-shy attackers waste chances in front of goal.

Victor Osimhen is someone the club has been monitoring closely and continues to track, with the Nigerian international no closer to signing a new contract with Napoli after the club seemingly ridiculed the forward in an odd social media video shared through their official account.

Still, there is no assurance that he will become a Chelsea player, with Liverpool also interested in his services. However, another Serie A player, the Blues, are eyeing a move for Inter Milan’s ultra-attacking left-back Dimarco amid doubts over Ian Maatsen and Marc Cucurella’s futures and the regular injury issues of Ben Chilwell.

Dimarco emerged from the Inter youth setup but made just one league appearance for the club the first time around. After loan spells at Ascoli and Empoli, Dimarco was sold to Sion in 2017, only to be bought back by Inter a year later.

Loans at Parma and Verona followed, but Dimarco has now, finally, become a first-team regular for Inter. The boyhood Inter Milan fan’s attacking output has been attracting attention. He registered five assists on the continent in Inter’s run to the Champions League final last season, the most ever recorded by a defender.

With a contract only running until 2026 and a low salary, Inter have been planning to reward the 25-year-old with a new deal, which is expected to be finalised soon. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if Chelsea tries to tempt Dimarco into making a switch to Stamford Bridge rather than extending his stay at his boyhood club.
