Arsenal and Newcastle United have entered the race for the signatures of 22-year-old Liverpool target Andre.
According to a report by 90min, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Liverpool are all interested in the services of Andre. The 22-year-old defensive midfielder has made quite a name for himself of late. And, he has been on the radar of Liverpool for a while now. But, it seems the Merseyside club will now have competition from Arsenal and Newcastle for his services.
Andre has come through the ranks at Fluminense. He was promoted to their first team in 2021 and has gone from strength to strength since. He has established himself as a first-team regular and his impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed.
In the 2023 season, the 22-year-old has been one of the standout players in South America. He has featured in a total of 49 matches and has racked up over 4,200 minutes. The Brazil international has helped Fluminense reach the final of the Copa Libertadores for the second time in their history.
While his contract runs until the end of 2026, a departure in the winter looks very likely given the amount of interest in him. Liverpool have been scouting him for a while now. They wanted to sign him in the summer to complete their midfield rebuild but Andre was committed to his club as he wanted them to win the Copa Libertadores.
As a result, a transfer couldn’t go through. However, the Merseyside club will return for him in the winter. They still want to add a defensive midfielder to the mix. Jurgen Klopp is looking for someone who can help their cause in the long run and Andre seems to be a perfect fit.
But, Liverpool will face competition from Arsenal and Newcastle United. The Gunners have suffered injuries in the centre of the park this season and they are keen on bolstering it by adding another midfielder. Their sporting director has been keeping a close eye on South American talents and he feels Andre could be a great fit. And, that is why they are looking to make a move in the winter transfer window.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are also interested in him. While they are not the best placed to land him at the club, they are still willing to try. The Magpies have suffered a huge blow as Sandro Tonali their marquee signing of the summer is all set to receive a lengthy ban because of betting breaches. And, they are looking to fill the void by signing a top class midfielder in the winter and Andre is a part of their list.
