Aston Villa will reportedly look to sign out-of-favour Spanish playmaker Brahim Diaz from Real Madrid in 2024.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Brahim Diaz is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The 24-year-old has been unable to establish a foothold in the Real Madrid first team since returning from AC Milan. And the Villans are looking to pounce on the situation by prising him away from the Santiago Bernabeu.

Brahim Diaz has seen his career remain in a state of flux since leaving Manchester City to join Real Madrid in January 2019. The Spanish international was one of the best young prospects in the world during his time at Manchester City. But impatience has seemingly been his undoing, considering Phil Foden’s progress at the Etihad.

The 24-year-old has made only 29 appearances thus far for Real Madrid while managing just 117 minutes of game time this season. Diaz spent three seasons on loan at AC Milan, where he became a pivotal figure. But he has yet to get going at Real Madrid since returning to the Santiago Bernabeu this past summer.

Diaz’s situation has not gone unnoticed, with his stock remaining high in the market. Recent reports have linked the former Manchester City playmaker with West Ham United. The latest update brings another Premier League club in contention for Diaz’s signature, with Aston Villa keen on signing him.

Aston Villa delved into the market for a midfield signing in the summer transfer window by landing Youri Tielemans. But the Belgian international has failed to hit the ground running and is unhappy at Villa Park. Recent reports have also suggested that the former Leicester City playmaker might leave Aston Villa only six months after joining them.

In addition, Emiliano Buendia is a long-term absentee due to a knee injury. Diaz is thus a viable target for Aston Villa if they look to bolster the first-team squad in January. But assessing the situation and pursuing the Real Madrid playmaker next summer might be more sensible.

It will be interesting to see if Diaz pushes for a move away from Real Madrid in the January transfer window. Returning to the Premier League by joining Aston Villa might be on the cards if he gets fed up with his situation.
